New NYSPEP Office

NYSPEP and Prevent Child Abuse New York are in the process of moving! Our phone, fax, and mailing address will all remain the same. To visit the NYSPEP office, please use the door directly across the hall from our former office space. From this entrance, NYSPEP is located first door on the right.
To visit PCANY, please take a right off the elevator, go through the glass doors, and enter through the first door on the right. From here, NYSPEP is situated around the corner, last door on the left. To ensure someone is available to meet with you, please call (518) 445-1273 to schedule a visit. We look forward to seeing you!

NYSPEP Member Spotlight

Rebekah M. Widrick

Rebekah is the Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems Project Coordinator at the New York State Council on Children and Families. As one of the newest members of NYSPEP's Executive Committee, she also serves as co-chair for NYSPEP's New Parent Kit Workgroup.

Recognizing Community Cafe Parent Leaders

Kara Georgi and Katie McIntyre, Parent Leaders for the Community Cafes in Auburn, NY, are working with NYSPEP to facilitate additional Community Cafes within New York state. Recently, the National Alliance of Children's Trust & Prevention Funds accepted the nominations of Kara and Katie to the Alliance's National Parent Partnership Council (ANPPC). Katie and Kara will represent New York at the ANPPC, which holds it's annual face-to-face meeting November 11th through 14th. NYSPEP congratulates Katie and Kara on their efforts to strengthen families across New York state!

The American Association of Retired Persons offers an online resource for grandparents who are serving as primary caregivers for their grandchildren. Grandparents face unique challenges such as the financial burden of raising a child while retired and establishing a legal relationship for school enrollment and medical care.

Cornell University - BCTR Research Study

Parent Participants Wanted For Survey Study

Cornell University’s Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research is seeking parents of children ages 15-24 with no known developmental, genetic, or mental health issues AND parents of children ages 15-24 with a history of non-suicidal self-injury within the past year. Study goals are to better understand parent experiences and develop programs to support parents. The survey takes about 25 minutes.
